Mission Statement

“Never in our lifetime has there been a more desperate need for constructive and committed dialogue, among individuals, among communities, among cultures, among and between nations.”

The purpose of Model United Nations Illinois is to create an atmosphere in which delegates are exposed to the international issues of today. Through diplomatic discussion, debate, and parliamentary sessions, delegates interact with one another to reach consensus and draft resolutions with the aim of improving our world. As citizens of our global community, we all have a responsibility to collaborate with others and improve the conditions of the world. Model United Nations Illinois is a forum in which such cooperation is both fostered and encouraged.

Model United Nations Illinois (MUNI) is a high school Model United Nations (MUN) Conference hosted by the University of Illinois and its incredibly dedicated Model United Nations club.

MUNI XV will take place from April 23rd to the 25th, in the glorious Champaign-Urbana Spring. MUNI XV will be the biggest, most dynamic MUNI since its inception, with a greater variety of committee choices sure to appeal to every variety of high school delegate. Accommodations this year are at the Holiday Inn in Urbana.

The MUNI XV Secretariat has simplified Conference Fees this year for your convenience. Delegate fees are $45 per delegate should you register with us prior to February 26, 2010. Registration fees after this date will be $50 per delegate. Early registrants have priority in country choices and the Security Councils.

History

Model United Nations Illinois has come a long way. From a fledgling conference of one committee and thirty delegates fourteen years ago, MUNI now accommodates five hundred students in ten committees and is hosted by a staff of sixty.

Through the years, we’ve moved from the Illini Union to classrooms and instructional space. This year, we have access to exclusive College of Business conference-style instructional space. Since its inception in 1994, MUNI staffers have gone on to hold esteemed positions in government, the corporate world, and academia.
